We are a full service Custom Hardware Manufacturing Shop
What are the different types of custom hardware and fasteners?
Fastening Hardware:
- Bolts and Screws: Threaded fasteners used with or without nuts to join components.
- Nuts: Internally threaded hardware that mates with bolts to clamp parts together.
- Washers: Flat rings placed under nuts or bolt heads to distribute load and prevent surface damage.
- Rivets: Permanent mechanical fasteners used extensively in sheet metal and aerospace structures.
- Pins and Keys: Components like cotter pins or dowels used to align parts or lock gears to rotating shafts.
Motion and Power Hardware:
- Bearings: Elements that constrain relative motion and reduce friction between moving parts.
- Gears: Toothed wheels that mesh together to change the speed, torque, and direction of power.
- Shafts and Couplings: Cylindrical rods that transmit rotation and torque, connected together by rigid or flexible couplings.
- Chains and Belts: Flexible loops used to link rotating shafts over distances.
Ergonomic Controls and Interface Hardware:
- Industrial Handles: Pull, fold-away, or fluted grip handles used to open equipment covers and doors.
- Control Levers: Mechanical links used for indexing, switching states, or directing machine movement.
Rigging and Lifting Hardware:
- Shackles: U-shaped links with a removable pin used as primary connection points for chains or slings.
- Turnbuckles: Devices with internal screw threads used to adjust the tension and length of ropes or cables.
- Eyebolts and Hoist Rings: Threaded anchor points screwed directly into machinery for lifting purposes.
- Hooks: Heavy steel components such as clevis, swivel, or grab styles that attach lifting lines to the load.
Sealing and Environmental Hardware:
- Gaskets and O-Rings: Elastomeric or soft metal rings that seal joints to prevent fluid or gas leaks.
- Oil Seals: Specialized rings that keep lubricants inside a bearing assembly while blocking dirt.
- Bumpers: Rubber or plastic hardware that cushions impact and protects equipment edges.
Electrical and Control Hardware:
- Wiring and Connectors: Bundles and terminal plugs that route electric current safely.
- Circuit Breakers and Fuses: Safety switches that interrupt power during electrical overloads.
- Enclosures and Brackets: Protective sheet-metal boxes and mounting hardware that house delicate electronic controllers
